FS2 went on a special visit to Pastierre bakery. The children have been learning about different celebrations and to prepare for the birthday party on Sunday they got to observe how the bakery makes birthday cakes. They also got to decorate different kinds of cupcakes with different themes as well as bake some bread. The children had lots of fun, learnt lots of new things as well as getting some special treats to take home with them!
On Thursday 3rd of April, FS2 became Paleontologists. We set off after snack to the Heron garden in search of some dinosaur fossils. On arrival we surveyed the area and carefully laid out our excavation site and marked out the areas we thought we would find some fossils. We then chose the tools we would use and divided up into groups. We started to dig very carefully and after a little while, Hazem found the first dinosaur egg. We all came together and examined it, after the fist find we started to dig even more and then found some fossils.
On Thursday 2nd May, all the children and teachers in FS2 celebrated their work on minibeasts by holding an Ugly Bug Ball.
The children looked amazing. Everyone was dressed as their favourite minibeast.
We split into four groups and worked with our teacher to make lots of yummy food for our party.
Our topic this term was “Superheroes” and on Thursday 31st January we had a super fun day in FS2 Red to finish the topic. We joined FS2 Blue for a “Superhero” day.
Children created their own capes at home, (Well done Moms they looked fantastic! :) ) as well as decorating their own individual masks at school in preparation for the day. The children undertook lots of “superhero challenges” throughout the day, we started by making “super smoothies” using fruit and milk, we then created our own “super gadgets” to give us our super powers.
FS2 Blue and FS2 Red joined together for a day of superhero fun and challenges. We started by getting into four teams. Our first task was to decide on team names! We then made super smoothies with fresh fruit and milk to give us energy for the action-packed day ahead! We also desigened superhero gadgets to help us catch the baddies. Later in the day we completed a superhero obstacle and climbing challenge, a supersonic listening challenge and speed challenges!
We had a super day!
This week we have finished learning about the festival of lights (Diwali). The children enjoyed making and tasting coconut barfi, designed rangoli patterns with colouring pencils and felt tip pens then they made these patterns at the entrance to the class with chalks on the floor. They created even more rangoli patterns using coloured rice. The children also made diva lamps by moulding and shaping clay and finished by painting them in bright colours.
On Wednesday 24th October BSA took part in lots of spooky and scary activities. The children made potions and spooky spells, played Halloween games, visited a Mad Scientist's lab and created spooky art and crafts.
Here is FS2 Blue's spooky spell

On Sunday 21st October, FS2 visited Andalusia hospital. They looked inside an ambulance, were shown the different equipment doctors use and learned how to wash their hands correctly. They were all given a doctor's coat and toy equipment to take home. Back in school the children had great fun playing in the hospital role play area.
We had a busy week in FS2 Red this week. In Topic we explored the celebration of “Diwali”, the children looked at how people around the world celebrate Diwali, and what the word means (festival of lights). We examined the similarities and differences of how Eid and Diwali are celebrated. We read the story of “Rama and Sita” and learned why Diwali is “the festival of lights”. We created our own Rangoli pattern plates (using symmetry and beautiful colours) to hang up in the classroom. We also learned a lovely song about Diwali.
Welcome back to FS2 Red! We had a wonderful time this week listening to all the children’s holiday adventures. Charlie the bear even got to visit the pyramids! Some children created beautifully detailed pictures of where they went and what they did.
