In the week before half-term, the Senior Department held its first enrichment day of this academic year. The aim of these days is to give students an educational experience which is not directly related to just one subject but which embraces a number of areas. On the day there was a myriad of activities – Year 7 students rehearsed and gave a most enjoyable performance of Lion King in Heron Garden; Year 8 went on a trip to Rachid, visiting the museum there and viewing the traditional houses; Year 9 visited the Labanita dairy factory and saw how milk and cheese are produced; Year 10 and Year 11 stayed at school honing their map skills in the morning and then doing PSCHE challenges in the afternoon; and Year 12 visited a local orphanage for part of the day and then later on did exciting scientific experiments. The next extended curriculum day is planned for February when I am sure that students will have equally interesting activities.
