BSME Debating Tournament

Recently, students from Years 9 and 11 took part in the BSME Debating Tournament held at St Christopher’s School, Bahrain. This was the second year for this Tournament and the first time for our school to take part. The students debated nine motions, some of which they knew a couple of weeks in advance and some for which they only had an hour’s preparation; for some debates we were the Proposition and for others the Opposition.  In addition, the accompanying teachers (Mr Abbott and Mrs Jackson) judged debates. Motions ranged from This House Believes in Damming the Amazon to This House Believes in Drone Warfare to This House Would Like to Be Mega-rich.  We reached the Quarter Finals – a fantastic achievement as we were by far the smallest school to take part! It was an extremely worthwhile event and we look forward to taking part in similar, future events.
